Groove Tour Kakamega

Every year, Groove Awards goes round the country with top gospel musicians, DJs, dancers and hype-men for the annual Groove Tour. The countrywide tours in the past years have been some of the biggest concerts in the Kenyan calendar of events, and this year it’s not any different. In fact, one could say, its the best one yet. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the prestigious gospel awards, Groove organisers in conjunction with Safaricom Ltd pulled out all their stops to create a world-class event full of pomp and colour.

The 2015 Groove tour officially kicked off in the beautiful Kakamega County on April 26th and it didn’t disappoint. Fans from all over the county convened at the Bukhungu Stadium. Upon arrival, the location was aesthetically decorated in true Groove style. As the gates opened at 1pm, the stadium was packed to capacity with people from all walks of life dancing to the music and keenly following the electrifying performances on stage. The MC of the day. Dr. Ofweneke kept the audience laughing with his witty jokes as the lively music, ideal sound, huge screens and adequate lighting, kept everyone on their feet.
Performances from popular artists like Furi Furi hit maker DK Kwenye Beat took full control of the stage with popular songs and energetic dance. Legendary music brothers Rufftone A.K.A Mr Iggy Iggy, Daddy Owen and Slejj made it a family affair and brought the house down with their top-of-chart singles. Other performances included songs by Pamela Wanders, Jfam and Guardian Angel among others. With DJ Sadic on the decks, fans were entertained by various genres of music; from Lingala, hip-hop, dancehall to RnB soulful tracks.

Through the hot afternoon sun, to the heavy downpour that followed, the audience sang and danced along, in full support to their favourite gospel artistes. The hall mark of a successful event and to the delight of everyone, fans remained even after the concert was over, asking for more music. The next stop for the Groove tours is Eldoret this Sunday May 3rd 2015.
