Uniliver in conjunction with The Government of Kenya recently came up with Blue Band’s nutritious breakfast initiative that will help in providing children with the essential energy and nutrients that they need to grow, develop and reach their full potential at school and later in adult life. The campaign was on a mission to ensure that nutritious breakfast is an everyday reality for half a billion school children in Africa by making Bluer Band margarine readily available, affordable and desirable.

In addition, Blue Band also launched the ‘Blue BAND GOOD Breakfast Challenge’ in schools in conjunction with the Ministry of Education in May this year. The challenge aimed to establish and promote nutritious eating habits in schools and help students achieve healthier lives, better school performance and a more promising start to life.

When Unilever approached us to come up with a launch concept for ‘A Good Breakfast’ campaign, we aimed at making it nothing short of spectacular. MoSound, the event management company in Kenya was responsible for the event set-up and audio-visual equipment that brought the production aspects of the event to life

We also concentrated on creating a theme that resonated with the Blue Band colors and set up the décor- as designed by the creative department that crafted that special extra touch. The event organizing company also did the event conception, accommodation booking, organizing and booking of the master of ceremony and entertainment, video production, event program design, guests management, speech scripting as well as technical solutions.

The Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi proved to be an excellent choice for the grand breakfast event. There was a seamless program flow of events with Julie Gichuru as the MC and performance highlights by the award-winning music group Sauti Sol and a presentation by the face of the campaign – Olympic champion David Rudisha alongside a group of students.

When the formal part of the event was over, our in-house deejay, DJ Mike Big lived up to his reputation: ensuring everyone on site has a good time.

Some Good breakfast and fun sure proved a good way to kick start not just the campaign, but the day for the guests who left the venue at mid-morning to get back to their daily schedules!
